SOME ATTRIBUTES OF GEL FORMULATIONS OF SUPERABSORBENTS ALCOSORB 400 OR STOCKOSORB 400 F WITH SELECTED FERTILIZERS

Summary

An investigation into the physical properties of formulations of two superabsorbents with several fertilizers was carried out under laboratory conditions. Alcosorb 400 or Stockosorb 400 F were separately formulated with ammonium nitrate, urea, triple superphosphate granulated, potassium sulphate, HydroComplex, Hydrovit 300 and Pollina Standard, the fertilizers being all applied at the same range of following doses: 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 3.0, 5.0 and 9.0 g per 3.0 g of the aforecited superabsorbents. The gels within each range of formulation prepared were made by adding 100 or 400 ml of destilled water. Reaction (pH), salinity (g NaCl/1) and capacity of free water (as a quantity collected by draining it into filtrate paper) were determined for each formulation 48 hours after its preparing. The values of all parameters measured were influenced by superabsorbents, fertilizers and their doses as well as by the amount of water added into the formulations examined.
