Summary

During the vegetative period, flowers of pepino clones number 3, 4 and 6, were treated with NOA or with 4-CPA. NOA was applied in concentrations 25 mg·dm-3 or 50 mg·dm-3 and 4-CPA - 15 mg·dm-3 or 30 mg·dm-3. Pepino was cultivated under glasshouse in spring-summer cycle in the 2000 and 2001. At harvest, the number and weight of all as well as marketable fruits and early yields were determined. In addition content of some chemical components in fruits was investigated. Both auxins significantly increased the early yield of pepino. Hormone treatment of flowers with NOA or with 4-CPA generally increased number and weight of marketable fruits as well as total and marketable yield but results depended on the preparation applied and the investigated clone. NOA at both but 4-CPA only at lower concentration caused the increase of the weight of pepino fruit. The applied preparations did not affect the content of the investigated compounds in pepino fruit. It was proved that NOA is better substance for hormonization than 4-CPA of pepino flower.
