YIELDING OF TOMATO (LYCOPERSICON ESCULENTUM MILL.) CULTIVATED IN GLASSHOUSE FROM TRANSPLANTS AND CUTTINGS EXPOSED TO LIGHT OF VARIED COLOUR

Summary

Transplants and cuttings of glasshouse tomato cultivar 'Recento F1' exposed to yellow, green, blue and white light as well as the spectral-composition-similar-to-daylight of fluorescent lamps were cultivated in glasshouse in order to define the effect of the light colour on further plant development and yielding. There was defined a date of starting the fruit picking, total and marketable yield from three clusteres, mean fruit weight, cluster filling, dry matter content in fruits and the height of cluster setting. The application of yellow light during transplants production considerably delayed the fruit yield. Plants cultivated from transplants exposed to blue light set clusteres considerably lower, unlike those exposed to yellow light. Plants cultivated from rooted cuttings exposed to blue light set the first cluster lower. There was observed an effect of the light colour on neither the yield size not other yielding parameters of plants cultivated from transplants and cuttings, too.
